I'm running Windows XP Home (sp2). The version of Windows Media Player that I
have on the computer is ver. 10.00.00.4019. I do not like it that much. I
would like to go back to windows 8 or 9. Is there a way that I can remove the
WMP 10 and then install ver. 8 or 9 again ?? Thanks for your support

As microsoft put it,"only system restore lets you return to an earlier
player" ..
Or reinstall xp,however it has been changed back w/o either done.....

You're probably stuck with WMP10 now. If you want to take a risk, the
Windows Media Player 11 Beta (testing) version was just released today.
It's a beta, so there may be some issues with it. I haven't had many
problems with it yet, but then again, I haven't done much more than play
music. If you want to have fun trying, go ahead. Microsoft also has
instructions on removing WMP11 Beta if you don't like it. To get it, go
here.

Just remember to not expect for everything to work perfectly though. So
anyway, your options appear to be stick with WMP10, reformat your computer
to get WMP9, or use the WMP11 Beta. (SP2 installs WMP9 with no choice.)
