SP2 for Windows Media Center 2002?

No. It has dependencies on features only available in XPSP2. As you're
aware, WMC2002 can't install XPSP2 totally, but only hotfixes.

Is what Neil says true about SP2 and WMC2002 or am I being mislead?

This is what my systeminfo indicates:

OS Name: Microsoft Windows XP Professional
OS Version: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600

In addition, My Computer>Properties>General tab indicates:

System:
Microsoft Windows XP
Media Center Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

If true, what other updates will not function on WMC2002?
Specifically, IE7.

Hello,

It is my understanding that all patches/updates carried by SP2 would be
installed on all flavours of Windows XP. However, if you are running Windows
Media Center 2002/2004, you will not have the features that are available
under Windows XP Media center 2005.

Regardless of which MCE version you are running, your system properties will
always tell you that you are running Windows XP Professional since MCE built
upon Windows XP Pro.

Find out which version of Windows XP MCE you are running.

What he's is saying is somewhat true in that WMP11 needs SP2, and that SP2
doesn't update everything in MCE 2002 to the current version. It does
update all of the Windows components, but it does not update the MCE
components.
This is what my systeminfo indicates:

OS Name: Microsoft Windows XP Professional
OS Version: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600

In addition, My Computer>Properties>General tab indicates:

Microsoft Windows XP

As you can see from your system you can install SP2 just fine on Windows XP
MCE 2002. And yes, WMP11 needs SP2. But that isn't your problem. The
problem is the MCE interface leverages some of the components in WMP to
render some media content. MCE 2005 with update rollup 2 will work with the
new WMP11. MCE 2002 will not and there are no plans that I am aware of to
get MCE 2002 to work with WMP11. The same is true for MCE 2004. That is
why WMP11 will not install on MCE 2002, because if it did it would break
some functionality in the MCE interface.

As far as I am aware, IE7 will install and work fine in MCE2002, but I can't
test that as I am running a newer version.
