I want to email a coleague a shortcut to a file on our shared local network.
When I drag a created shortcut into an email the recipiant recieves an error
message. I know I need to set up a 'secure network share' but unsure how.

Make sure that file is in a folder that your colleague is manually able to
access (e.g. using Network Neighborhood).

If you put the file in a folder which your colleague is unable to see then
the shortcut will not help.

Then type your shortcut in this format
\\<computer_name>\<share_name>\..\<file_name>

Easiest way to get the above if you are not familiar with this ... on your
own computer, navigate to the file using Network Neighborhood.

Windows Explorer will give you the full path and you already have the
filename.
