Placing a shortcut doc into a task, '07

Here's the issue:
The user creates a shortcut of a Word doc within the shared drive.
Copies & pastes the shortcut into a task. (using right-click method)
The file extension of that shortcut changes to a .lnk
They go to Save the task and outlook produces an "unsafe" message about the
attachment.

The goal:
They want to be able to go into the shared drive, to the shortcut of the
document, make changes to the doc, and have those changes be reflected in the
shortcut doc that is in the task.
Is it even possible to do that?
thx

yes.

Open a task, Click on Insert File, browse to the Word file and select it
(single click) then in the bottom right corner, change the setting to Insert
it as a Hyperlink.
