BSOD BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO #74

T

trlrdr

Been running XP Pro fine for many months, but now get recurring BSOD on
startup.
Doing a reload of XP will then work fine-for a while-but BSOD keeps
coming back eventually-days to months later. Saw where it could be a
Ram problem, but I have swapped around
both 512MB DIMMs I have in all combinations and no difference (1 at a
time as well.)

My system uses SATA disk so have had trbl trying to boot otherwise...

any ideas???

Thanks!!!

Another possible cause is that one of the registry files has been set
to "read only":

Check the attributes of the files in the \Windows\System32\Config
folder.

Good luck

all the files in the Config folder are archives (a) attribute.
Is this right? All the files only have the "a" attribute (some have "h"
as well)
Not sure what to look for or what they should be...

That is almost certainly okay.

Problems can happen if one of the Registry files has somehow been set
to "Read only".

There must be some other factor that is causing your problem.

Good luck
