Automatic Updates

How can I run as a limited user and still have Windows Automatic Updates work?
It seems to me that I MUST log on with an Administrator account so as to
download and install the updates. Shouldn't the Administrator account do
this without having to be logged on?

Hello Bob,

Is Autmatic Updates enabled on your machine ? You can check this by
right-clicking on My Computer, selecting properties and flipping to the
Automatic Updates tab. If it is not enabled, then automatic updates would
not work on any local accounts. You will have to set automatic updates by
logging in as an administrator.

Hello Bob,

Thank you for using newsgroup!

Based on my knowledge, this Automatic Updates feature do apply to all users
and administrators of computers running Windows XP and Windows 2000 Server
and later. I agree with Anando's opinion. You may logon with administrator
account to check if you have enabled this feature. If the local
administrator has enabled the feature, it will work on all users.

Okay, thanks for your input.

If I understand you correctly, so long as automatic updates is set correctly
(via an Administrator account), I should not have to log in as an
Administrator in order to have updates downloaded and applied. I'll watch it
more closely. Thanks!
