Automatic Disconnect

Can someone tell me where to change the settings as to when my PC
automatically disconnects from the internet due to in activity?

There are times when I'm downloading a lengthy item and I want to walk away
and leave my PC to the chore. However when I return, the download was
halted due to a disconnect from the internet, probably due to some setting
of time. I need to change this. Thank you.
 
From IE's tools menu, choose internet options. On the connections tab, go to
settings|advanced. Set your disconnect options there.
