Can someone tell me where to change the settings as to
when my PC automatically disconnects from the internet
due to inactivity?

There are times when I'm downloading a lengthy item and I
want to walk away and leave my PC to the chore. However
when I return, the download was halted due to a
disconnect from the internet, probably due to some time
setting. I need to change this. Thank you.

In your mail program, set up the automatically checker for a 10 minute
interval. That may keep the connection "hot" during lengthy downloads -
which can be perceived as inactivity.

From IE's tools menu, choose internet options. On the connections tab, go to
settings|advanced. Set your disconnect options there.

Control Panel - Internet Options - Connections. Highlight the
connection; Settings, click Advanced. Uncheck the 'disconnect if idle'
box. Note that downloading a file is not considered being active - once
you stop using keyboard and mouse that timer starts and will cut off
downloads at the delay set
