Automatic connection to the internet

I used to hit the power button on the front of my computer and automatically
connect to the internet. For some reason I can no longer do this. The only
way I can connect to the internet now is to click start/launch internet
explorer. I am running XP Home sp2.

Anyone any ideas what's gone wrong?

Thank you

Right click on your connection and make a shortcut. Drag that shortcut into
your startup folder.

Or leave it like it is? If you only want to go onto your comp to play cards,
why have it connected to the Internet?
As soon as your anti-virus or email client tries to do it's "thing", it will
auto connect.
My guess is that you've stopped MSN messenger or some other program from
connecting on computer boot up?
