Hi, I am trying to fix a family members computer but I am having a
problem getting it to connect to the internet, IV done all the obvious
things e.g... rebooted the router, made shore firewall is not
blocking it, reinstalled ie7 and I have tried Firefox, but when I
click on Firefox it will not launch, removed a few viruses, Configured
IP address, but it will just not connect to the internet, I can share
files over our home network and all my other computers can connect to
the internet.

The computer I'm trying to connect to the internet is running Windows
XP home sp2

Can anyone help? Cheers.

First make sure the computer is really virus/malware-free. If you were
as thorough as the steps outlined at the following link, you're done
with that part. If you weren't, you need to continue cleanup.

Once you are sure the computer is 100% clean, try resetting its TCP/IP
stack downloading and running WinsockXPFix.exe, a Visual Basic program
designed to fix corrupted TCP/IP issues, host file problems and a
variety of other connectivity issues.

"Firefox it will not launch" and "not connect to the internet" are two
different things. If Firefox will not launch then you might get better help
in a group that specializes in Firefox.

Do you know how to ping? Can you ping?
