audio drivers

since i installed windows xp my I hear no sounds from
speakers. They worked fine with windows 98SE, but for
some reason I don't believe i have necessary drivers? I
checked system clicked on properties location of audio
device is unknown and it appears as if I don't have
speakers connected properly but they are. Any suggestions
on how to correct this?

If the audio is onboard the motherboard (and not a separate soundcard) then
the correct place to look for updated drivers is the website of the
motherboard manufacturer. If you do not know the make and model of the
motherboard, then first stop should be the PC manufacturer's website where
they may also be found.

If you have a separate soundcard, then they will be at the website of the
soundcard manufacturer.
