Arescom NetDSL 800, MSN Broadband and NdusbMsn.sys Stop errors?

In the month that I've had my MSN Broadband account I've had 4 stop
errors (blue screens, system halts). The culprit seems to the
NdusbMsn.sys device driver. It is a driver for the Arescom NetDSL 800
DSL modem that came with MSN Broadband.

Here's the pertinent information from the Blue Screen:
NdusbMsn.sys - Address F8906DEA base F890600, DateStamp 3bd2a28a

My computer has a clean Windows XP Pro SP1a install, all the latest
BIOS and driver updates and even the update for the Arescom modem
(http://www.arescom.com/Arescom/Arescom_2002/Other/MSNfaq.cfm).

When I call MSN's support, they tell me they've never heard of this
problem before and to contact my computer manufacturer (huh?). I'll
email Arescom, but I have a feeling they'll just tell me to contact
MSN. Eventually I'll just switch to using the ethernet connection, but
right now I have to use USB

Is anyone else getting these Stop errors?

No. Of course, I'm not using the USB connection, I'm using the Ethernet
cable. The NetDSL 800 is not supposed to be able to be messed with
according to MSN and Qwest, my ISP here. I have been told that there are no
downloads of any kind available for the modem, all settings have be
optimized at the factory. As far as dealing with tech support at MSN . . .
all I can say is I hope to never have to do it again. I'm going to check
out the link you have provided to see what is up with Arescom. Good luck!

Ok this was a B***H of a problem to figure out...but I did. And I
figured if I had this problem, more people would. And the fact that I
searched EVERYWHERE and found NOTHING of help, I feel I should at least
tell how I fixed my version of this problem!!

After doing everything everyone told me to do...which didnt help and I
mean EVERYTHING!! I couldnt figure out why I was getting this "Stop
error screen" when my other computer had the exact same components
installed (I had just put together a new computer cuz my old one was
running intel celleron...and so I bought a Pentium 4 and built a 2nd
computer and added windows XP) and this problem never even came up
ONCE!

I could write a whole novel on how F***ING annoying this was...but I'll
just get to the solution!!

The problem was Norton Internet Security!! (it came bundled with my
motherboard) For some stupid reason it wasnt compatible with the
ndusbmsn.sys file and when the stop screen wasnt about that I got the
"page fault in non paged area"

So main point...Norton Internet Security Is A Pain In The A$$ a
revelation came to me in that that was the only difference between my 2
computers! My old computer has ZONE ALARM!! So I removed N.I.S.
installed ZONE ALARM and waaaaaaaallllllllaaaaaaaaaaa!! NO MORE STOP
SCREEN, NO NDUSBMSN.SYS, NO PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA
EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that S**T is in the PAST FOREVER!!

So there, if you've had that problem and your running NORTON INTERNET
SECURITY remove that program ASAP!! and replace it with ZONE ALARM!!!

Hope that helps...it did for me, and now I love my computer and I can
finally live in peace!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
