hi guys
whenever i open my videos folder, explorer freezes and
drwtsn32.exe runs to report the error. so i disabled dr.
watson from regedit and now i get the following message:

explorer.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x01b63397" referenced memory
at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "written".
Click Ok to terminate program

this happens every time i open my videos folder and
doesnt seem to happen with any other folder. i also tried
removing aedebug from the registry so drwtsn.exe would
not run but that did not help and i got the same message
as above.
pls help
thank you
tarun

I had the same problem. It's caused by a problem with the shell extension
''avi properties handler". Apparently it has lots of issues. II think in
this instance its caused by an upgrade to SP2. If you disable it the problem
should go away.

Either download this program http://www.snapfiles.com/get/shellexview.html
then disable the avi properties shell or you can unregister it by opening a
command prompt and typing regsvr32 "c:\windows\system32\shmedia.dll"
u -I'm not sure of the exact syntax!

But the problem is caused by the avi properties handler misbehaving after an
SP2 upgrade.
Hope this helps.
