Thanks Twayne, for answering my question, if some of the other respondents
had properly read my original question instead of foolishly arguing, it
would have been obvious to them that I have the paid version of MBAM and all
I wanted to know was does it interfere with antivirus software.

No, it wasn't obvious. You never mentioned or implied that it was the
paid version of MBAM. That was crucial information because the free
version, which most people use, is on-demand only, not resident.

In my original question I mentioned "in real time" and only the paid version
of MBAM runs in real time check it out on their website.

What if he picks the left one? :-)

But "both" is to be avoided. Pick one. Pick the
right one, of course. :)

It still wasn't obvious to me, and apparently not to several others
here. If your AV is already running, and you start up MBAM free on
demand, I'd say they are both running "in real time", and that's what I
assumed you meant.

Nil you are absolutely wrong, running the free version or the on demand
version
of MBAM is not running it in real time it is not protecting your system it
is just checking your system for already infected files. On the other hand
running the paid version is protecting your system, and that is what is
meant by "running in real time" .I hope you've got it now, and can I advise
you in future to ask questions about things you don't understand and don't
answer questions about things you don't understand.

I contributed this before herein - I just checked again, clicked on my MBAM
icon and an alert popped up ("C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes'
Anti-Malware\mbam.exe )

"Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is already running" I have the freeware v.

I agree with you - it's just what mine pops up and I talked to the company -
they said they "know it."

There is a big difference between a program running in idle and a
program providing real-time protection!

You are confused about the meaning of "real time". You seem to have
meant "resident" or "background" or one of several other computer
terms, but I can only go by the words you used. You didn't mention "real
time protection", you only asked about running MBAM and your AV at the
same time, which is "real time" by any definition.
I hope you've got it now, and can I advise you in future to ask
questions about things you don't understand and don't answer
questions about things you don't understand.

And I advise you to express your question in meaningful terms and
not to complain when your lack of precision gets you answers you don't
like. Take responsibility for your own actions.

Also, learn to use your newsreader. You are responding to me by
