additional hard drive not

Looking for advice:-

I have a back up hardrive on PC (Ddrive)
I took it from my old PC to use as a back up.
It is recognised by the PC.
When I check properties it shows as `no free space` I have never used a
hardrive to full capacity.
There maybe info on it that I want but this is only a check as I am sure I
transferred all before moving it.(and that was 4 months ago)
It also states that it needs to be formatted, would this be correct coming
from another PC and both using winxp?

Anything I can do before I try and format the hard drive?

When you added the drive did you jumper the original drive as Master and
the added drive as Slave? If not, do so and report back with the results.

I remember having problems with this and getting advice but as far as I am
aware it was done ok.
However it is worth me looking at this again. It might take a few days so
will put a new posting in when done.
