ActiveX Problems

When I go to Windows Update or any other site that uses
activex it gives me the "your current security settings
prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a
result, this page may not display correctly." I've been
trying to fix this for two days so far. Heres a list of
things i've tried.

-Made sure IE security settings were at default
-Put all IE security settings at low
-Added sites I was trying to visit on trusted sites list
-Enabled all activex options through "custom level' in IE
security tab
-restarted the computer
-Tried several "pc doctor" type programs. All found errors
with activex/COM but wanted me to pay them to fix it. The
one program I did buy didn't fix the problem.
-Used different browsers like firefox and netscape, also
didn't work.

Any suggestions I haven't tried would be great.

P.S. Why hasn't anyone released a tool that just fix's
activex or completely removes all activex components and
puts in the default ones?

Try re-registering the following .dll files (if you have WinXP)
Softpub.dll
Wintrust.dll
Initpki.dll
Urlmon.dll

1. Click Start >Run and type
regsvr32 Softpub.dll
Click okay to register it
You should get a dialog box telling you that it was successful.
2. Repeat the process for the other .dll files.
3. Restart your computer and try the update site again.

if the above doesn't help -
