Active X error

I'm having problems when trying to validate to download from the windows
website. It says my validation is incomplete, and I get an error message that
says I have an "Active X error", and that my computer is not configured
properly. I've checked, and all my security zones are set to default levels,
and the WGA validation tool is enabled in my add-ons folder. I've updated my
computer from Microsoft update. I just did a fresh install after a crash, and
office and windows validated just fine. I have Webroot's SpySweeper, and
Norton Systemworks 2006 installed. This problem was occuring on my computer
prior to the crash, though the reason for the crash is unrelated. On the
Validation diagnostics, my computer passes all the tests except the last one:
Active X Controls.

Please help !!!

I just tried booting without any start-ups, and the problem still occurs. I
also noticed that during validation, the "install Acive X" box doesn't appear
when it should, so that I can download the appropriate Active X file. When I
try the alternate method, My computer goes right to "this webpage cannot be
displayed", as it does whenever I try to download any file from the windows
website, whether it needs validation or not.

Do you have spyware blaster installed?

Thanks for the reply.

I do not have spyware blaster, but I do have macromedia items installed. I
don't think I have any Active X blocking software. I disabled the Active X
shield on SpySweeper, but it didn't help. I didn't have this problem in the
past, although I did have SpySweeper at the time. What are examples of Acive
X blocking software ?

O, by the way, I do not have Windows firewall activated either.

Anybody with any sugestions ?

I do not have Java installed on this fresh install, unless it came with the
Windows XP SP2 disk.

Sorry to keep adding info, but I just downloaded the latest version of Java
software, and the Active X message DID open up when performing the install.
So, it appears the problem is only with the Microsoft website.
