IIRC, I've used that on the Ultimate Boot CD (http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/) when I've cleared out an old PC that I gave away, I just wanted to make sure someone couldn't run an undelete application and get all my documents, photos and passwords back. From what I remember, it took a while to run and I assume it did the job ok :D

There are other free hard drive wiping tools on the UBCD, so it's really handy as a one-fix solution to lots of problems (also cloning, restore, partition manager etc... tools on there).

Thanks Ian, will check it out as it sounds interesting from the way you describe it. :thumb:

Yep, it's really handy - especially if you put it on a USB stick instead of a CD. If I ever need to fix a PC it's one of the first tools I use :thumb:

http://www.dban.org/news.html

I've never used the program "killdisk" but it sounds pretty neat. Have used DBAN which can be a bit tempermental with badly configured hardware and software. Worked on two pc's but could not get it to play on a third. Seems to have a good reputation.

I liked the name is why I tried it.
