8.8 for TV Wonder VE cards

I can't get 8.8 to work with a TV Wonder VE which works fine under
7.9. Installation of the new DAO, the WDM driver which as far as I can
tell is the same as the April version used in 7.9 and MMC 8.8 goes
through, but there is no picture in analog or composite.

the pc check utility says:

DirectX components are not installed properly
capture driver inf files are not installed

XP latest patch level/3.10/DX 9.0b/vanilla
Have gone through extensive clean installs so a driver conflict is
unlikely

Does anybody have 8.8 working with a VE card

Well... Sort of.

I used the ATI driver uninstaller, then reinstalled Cat 3.10, then the TV
Wonder drivers, then MMC 8.8, and I get video.

HOWEVER, I'm using an Audigy sound card, and I can't get the sound working
properly. It gets muted automatically when I start the TV application, and
when I un-mute it through the Creative drivers, the sound plays with an
echo.

I would go back to 7.9, but I'm stubborn.

well answered by ATI support there is an issue with PAL and DirectX
9.0b, resolved with the fix below

Microsoft has posted a Knowledge Base Article - 825116, stating a fix is now available for Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows Server 2003.

I don't know if there is much difference between the VE edition and
the retail version. I have the ATI TV PCI Tuner working fine with MMC
8.8.

My TV Wonder Pro is finally working properly since turning on the on-board
sound just for the TV card, but PC Check always says:

DirectX components are not installed properly
Capture driver inf files are not installed

Everything works well though. Dxdiag says my DX9.0b install is good with no
errors and captures are great so the capture drivers must be installed.
