What happens if you keep it fully operating overnight?

don't know I've never left it on overnight

Adding to Pegasus advise check the BIOS settings for Wake up on LAN or WAN.
Check the event viewer for error messages on the same time say at 5.0 AM and
post them back here.

Are there any Scheduled Tasks?

Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Scheduled Tasks?

Hope this helps.

I think I've found it in Scheduled Tasks under (check updates for
windows live toolbar) last one was run this morning at 05.03am so I've
changed it to Sunday at 02.00pm if that does the trick then I'll know
what's been happening and I'll disable it as I don't use it anymore.
Thanks guys for your help.

Sorry guys it did it again this morning as usual, I know because I get
up at 5 to go to work, so its back to square 1, I'll have to look at
the BIOS settings when I have more time probably on my rest days
starting at weekend, thanks again.

I've even checked the BIOS and LAN is disabled so I don't know where
to go from here any more suggestions please.
Thank you. DG

What entries appear in the Event Viewer logs immediately before it
restarts?

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Bite the bullet and sit in front of the machine at 5am so that you
can see what's going on!

I suspect its the Media Center Guide at least that's what it looks
like looking at the event viewer, I never use the Media Center so have
any of you any ideas on how I can disable it perhaps that will solve
my problem, I hope. Thanks again.

Problem solved, woke up this morning at 9.00am computer still in
standby here's what I did
went into Media Center > settings> disabled everything but couldn't
see anything to re-schedule a time to download TV guide information
which to me seems wrong except you can do it manually, so to all you
guys out there who have a Media Center PC I suppose you just have to
put up with it, on the other hand maybe I missed something, I don't
know, but it worked for me.
So to sum up if all else fails i.e. scheduled tasks, wake-up on LAN,
event viewer, go into your Media Center settings.
Hope this helps for future reference.

For those of you who are not in the know wake-up on LAN is in the BIOS
settings to get there I have to press the F1 key continually on my HP
computer, I wish I could remove the Media Center completely like I've
said previously I don't use it and I don't think they are all they are
cracked up to be, useless, well it doesn't work for me

Windows Media Centre does not by itself cause Windows to
reboot. If it did then we would have heard about it a long time
ago. Seeing that you reported once before that your problem
was solved, I suggest you wait a week or two before claiming
final victory.
