Hi,

Running Windows XP SP2, on a HP computer, I don't have to be online but
maybe twice or three times a day it just restarts by itself without any
warning, and then i get, the system has recovered from a serious error,
message, could anybody please advise what's wrong and how to remedy this.

Thanks in advance

This indicates that the system is crashing, and rather than bother you with
a blue screen that has cryptic yet somewhat helpful information, Windows
restarts for you.

You need to know what that information is to find and fix the problem.

To turn this off so that you can see the crash and get the information,
right-click on My Computer, choose Properties, then Advanced. In Startup
and Recovery choose Settings, and then in System Failure de-select
Automatically restart. Choose OK back to the desktop, and the next time it
crashes, you'll get some sort of error message.

You should also be able to find this information in the system log.

If you post back, or google on the error message, it will be possible to
help you further.
