Go to the Outbox and View | Current View | Show all messages and see if
there is a message there then that you can delete.

Steve,

I am getting the same message and when I go to my outbox that has 4 unsent
messages one of them will not delete due to an error problem message.
The others will delete. Nothing can be sent out at this point. Any thoughts?

Try this first so you don't have to wipe the entire message store.

Go to Tools | Accounts | Add | Mail and add your same mail account over
again. Then remove the first mail account and close and reopen WinMail and
see if you can delete that message then. Some others reported that would
get rid of the message.

If that doesn't work then post back.

As of a week ago, I started getting this message, and, sure enough, I did
have outgoing messages piling up in my box. Of course, I had to start sending
the same messages via online mail but would appreciate if I could get this
cleared up. In MSXP, when I got the message, if I went into TOOLS and checked
the volume for errors, this would resolve the problem and things would go
back to normal. This is not the case here. It happened right after an update
installation. Any clues?

Good to see you took the initiative of sending your emails via web mail.
There is no permanent fix yet.
The only consolation is that Microsoft is working on the problem.

Yes, me too -- Messages that won't send no matter what I try. My husband and
I have identical computers. Mine is set exactly as his is. His sends
outgoing mail. Mine doesn't. Go figure. What's the fix?

I have just learned that none of my emails in my Outbox have been sent. I
was told by my internet provider that it was because of McAfee. I
uninstalled McAfee and the problem still exists. When closing my email, I
also am getting a box that tells me there are messages in my outbox...I click
to send them, but nothing happens. Any ideas how I can get my emails to be
sent?

Your ISP was right. Unfortunately McAfee had already done its
damage by the time you uninstalled it.

Before you go to the trouble of deleting and regenerating the
email database, try this: Create a new email account with the same
settings as the existing account. Then delete the existing account.
Restart Windows Mail. If it still doesn't work, one of us will give you
the procedure for database deletion/regeneration.

I have an unsent message thta won't delete, and causes all others not to get
sent. Unknown message I get. What does it take to get this gone? Typical
Microsoft, they rush something out to market and it always sucks!!!

It gets an MVP with developing capacities and a great amount of generosity,
and luckily we have all that with Steve Cochran. Read about and download
its WMUtil program here: http://oehelp.com/wmutil

Robert,

I and several other people have had the same problem. Go to

www.oehelp.com/wmutil

and download Steve's utility (follow Steve's directions to save to your
desktop). Then use the utility (after unzipping) to compact your e-mail and
the problem will go away. Then, in the future, compact your e-mail every
time the dialog box appears asking if you want to compact your e-mail.

Good luck.
