Sudden change in screen background

E

Hi.

Windows XP Home.

This morning, when I switched on, my monitor screen was bright red instead
of its usual black (Phillips 'Brilliance' 150P). I have never heard of nor
seen this before and cannot find a way to correct it. I tried rebooting
without effect.

Everything is working normal but with a red tinge.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Thanks in advance for your time...

Ed

Quick update....

After two or three 'Restarts', instead of "Restart" I "Turned off" for a
few minutes and then rebooted. This has corrected it, now with everything
back to normal. I would, however, still like any suggetions on what may have
caused this.

Did you power cycle the monitor or just the PC? I wonder if this was
actually a problem with the red DAC/palette in your graphics card?

The PC with the monitor 'always on'...

I doubt it as it would not be available at the initial boot sequence - would
it?
