Property sheet controls disabled

How do I uninstall a network adapter? When trying to
view the properties for a network connection, I get the
following error message:

"The controls on this property sheet are disabled because
one or more other Network property sheets are already
open. To use these controls, close all the property
sheets and then reopen this one."

Needless to say, no other property sheets are actually
open. This only started happening recently, so clearly I
have done something that Win2000 doesn't like.

This problem is referenced in Microsoft Knowledge Base
Article 236144 (previously Q236144), but no solution is
offered there.

To uninstall use Device Manager to find your network adapter, right click and select
uninstall. Of course if the nic is still left in the computer it may try to reinstall
at next bootup. It may be worthwhile to try and reinstall the drivers but first try
booting into safe mode with networking to see if problem persists and if it does not
you have a conflict with a startup application/service that can be isolated with
msconfig from an XP computer or downloaded from the internet by searching for "
download msconfig ". --- Steve
