Error Message Claims That All Controls in LAN Adapter Properties Are Disabled

Hello:

I am trying to install McAfee Firewall 3.02 on Win2k SP2 for the first time.
While troubleshooting the firewall I uninstalled and reinstalled without
shut down in between, now I have this error whenever I try to add or delete
any other service, protocol, etc.

"The controls on this property sheet are disabled because one or more other
Network property sheets are already open. To use these controls, close all
these property sheets and then reopen this one"

I look under device manager i have a few disabled entries under network
adapter, when trying to unistall any of these, an system error will not
allow it. I unistalled the firewall. The disabled entries are still there.
Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Hello:

I've looked at the article and I have to admit - it's a pretty bad one. I've
flagged this article for our content teams to review it's value and if it's
deemed to still be needed, I will guarantee that it will be updated to
contain some relevant information.

If you are not able to remove the network adapter or change it settings, it
could that there is 'ghosted' information in Device Manager.
Follow this article to see if there is 'ghost' information in Device
Manager. Once you follow this article, I would suggest to remove all network
adapters, and then restart the computer so that the Plug and Play detection
can rediscover the adapter. REMEMBER to make sure you have any instructions
you need printed out or saved to the Desktop, and that if you need special
drivers for the NIC, that you have them saved already to your computer. Once
you remove the device, if PnP doesn't find it - you won't be able to get
online to come back up our newsgroups.
