Pricelessware CD: Stage 1 Wrap-up

S

Susan Bugher

We are now "open to the public" The URL for the 2004 Pricelessware CD
page is shown on the PL Info page.

**** MY WORK HERE IS DONE **** :) :) :)

*Coordination* of the burning effort - if needed - is up to the
volunteer burners.

Some volunteer burners have asked me to list their names on the CD web
page. (There are many burners who are *not* listed.)

If you are a volunteer burner and want to be listed on the web page post
a message or email me. *PLEASE* spell out the location, name and email
address details as you want them to appear (don't make me guess - you
might be sorry). ;)

**********************

If you have requested a CD in the "Who wants a CD thread?" and haven't
heard from a burner, please wait a few more days before posting a 2nd
request.

Instructions for requesting a CD are on the web page. Please remember
you are asking a *favor*, not placing an order.

Note: *If* you don't have a way to make additional copies, *some* of the
burners *might* be willing to include a few extra copies when they send
you your CD.

*********************

An ISO should be available *soon*. Further information will be posted
when there *is* information to post.

Sorry, Susan, but as the operator of the Pricelessware site, you can't
abdicate you're position.
If you're running the site you have to run the CD project, too.

No, this has become a Pricelessware project, not an "alt.comp.freeware"
project.
Since you decide what is associated with Pricelessware you can't just
dump the project on to the laps of Pricelessware volunteers.

Not true really. Susan just maintains the Pricelessware site.
She has no more power than anyone else in A.C.F. Priclessware is
a group not one person. If she chooses she can have nothing at
all to do with the CD, save for puting the information on the
Pricelessware site.

Since Pricelessware is a representation of the members of A.C.F.
it is up to the members to coordinate any projects outside the
scope of maintaining the web site.

People should not to dump everything on Susan to do. As it is
she does the voting each year and maintains the web site. Add
everyday life to that and it's a lot.

Mr Cooper, you do not get to tell Ms Bugher what she can or cannot do.
When you are paying her wages, then you are entitled to do so, but at
the moment she is a volunteer and as such she is free to do as she
damned well likes - whether you agree or not.

What?? I think Susan has done way more than her fair share with this.
From the very beginning it has been the intent for the burners to
coordinate with those asking for a CD. Susan can decide what she does or
doesn't want to do with this project just like anybody else.

If you're unhappy with the volunteer situation, then don't volunteer,
simple.

Hello Steven,

When I made an ISO image earlier this week, I tried using DDump and Easy
ISO (both freeware)without success. I ended up using the OEM software
which came with my CD burner to make the ISO. I know this is OT but I
used Nero.

Mark,
Unfortunately I didn't get Nero or anything with any of my burners
(currently have 3 of them, lol).

I generally use Deep Burner for this system (9x) and either the built in
burner or Deep Burner on the XP system (depending on what I'm wanting.....).
Unfortunately though, I don't have any software that only creates the iso
file without wanting to burn it straight afterwards (tried cancelling to get
it to bypass the burn but it then proceeded to delete the iso file aswell)
(

I downloaded LC ISO Creator (freeware, 23.3.KB - http://www.lucersoft.com)
until realising it didn't run on 9x ( (oh the joys).....

Easy ISO is drag and drop. Open Easy ISO. Open your CD drive.
Drag
everything on the CD to the Easy ISO window. On the bottom of
the Easy
ISO window click the "ISO Menu" and choose "Create ISO"

Anyone have a faster connection than myself and want to upload the ISO?
(mine keeps cutting out after saying it's going to take 79 hours to upload
(so much for my broadband)).

You're absolutely correct. I'm really trying to remember to use
emoticons when I write but it hasn't become a habit yet. :(
I was just teasing Susan. :)

How much did it cost for the extra space? I'd like to chip in.

I've not gotten a definitive price for it yet as my host is working out a
deal for that and another one I got around the same time
(http://projects.it-mate.co.uk), but if previous one's are anything to go by
then it'll probably be around £35 p/y give or take.
