FYI: The following programs either don't have a
link on the nomination pages or the link does not work.

The nominated program seems to be this one (as to the nomination posting
from "kalynuik1"), actually with a slightly different name, "FreePDF":

Download Pages:
http://shbox.de/fpx732.htm

There's also exists a program with the name "Free PDF", which is another
freeware with the same purpose. Just in case the nominator had them mixed
up, I include these as well.

I know. I suggested changes ..."at least for the nomination phase". :)

Although maybe not very important, still: I do think it can matter if
a program is listed as *one of its kind* among the many nominated -
compared to if it is listed along side four or five others in the
"same" category. Anyone looking over the list of programs not (yet)
nominated *might* stop and read more carefully, think twice and maybe
even try a program, *if* it is listed/grouped as the only one (or two)
in a category, compared to if is listed as one of several other
(seconded) ones. Oh well :)

Hi Bjorn,

I agree with *much* of what you say - and have started the category
discussion.

The *difficulty* I see with creating a subcategory that has just one
program is that the minimum number of votes needed for PL2004 is *2* and
if there is only one program in the category. . .

Let's move further discussion of this to the category discussion thread.

Many thanks, Bjorn and Karen,

Part of the problem was I had my eyes crossed and missed some info in
one post (blush). Got those URLs entered, searched for the others and
found some.

The remaining problem children are:

Nfilter
Octopus

Help would be appreciated.

About Octopus.

Its nominator was DAN <[email protected]>.
In <[email protected]>

The nominator seems to have gone missing. I was the seconder. Must I
now absorb parental responsibility, given the nominator's desertion?
It was only an impulsive act on my part, a single hour of half-hearted
passion, in a forgotten motel.

I do not want to adopt this problem child. I don't even want to pay its
support. I would like to just hand it off to the state, to a group home
or something.

The main thing, I don't at all like the situtation of the links.

To get the program, you have to scrounge pretty hard. To end by resorting
to a third-party download site. Such as the undesirable Winsite. And the zip
link below unfortunately packages a rude setup.exe.

http://www.winsite.com/bin/Info?2492
http://dl.winsite.com/files/95/ar2/win95/netutil/octopus.zip

Last known author's description page is only bones in a museum.

http://web.archive.org/web/20030210120522/http://www.redrival.com/mak/octopus/

The program development seems to be wholly abandoned, with its last update
dating early 2000. The author's current home is here:

http://www.moskalyuk.com/software/

Clicking on the Octopus link of the page above, blech, forgeddaboudit.

http://www.moskalyuk.com/octopus/index.htm forced redirect to....
http://www.alexmoskalyuk.com/octopus/ a dead non-domain.

So, I repeat my request. Although I am seconder, I would ask to be absolved
of all responsibility for this particular problem child.

Just ignore this problem child. It will die of neglect (no description).
Problem solved. <evil grin>

Ah that's the plan I want to hear. I was thinking to perhaps wrap it in
a blanket and let it float down the river.

O but we better take caution. Two females conspiring this way, we might
end by inciting some Salem witch burnings. <g>

A *big* thank you to Bjorn and Rembranded for their help with the Ware

The program onlineTV - http://onlinetv.flatserv.de/ - is *ADWARE*

Adware is not permitted on the Pricelessware List - see:

http://www.pricelessware.org/2004/2004proceduresPL.htm

onlineTV has been *removed* from the Nominations list.

FYI - below is a Google translation of a quote from the German website:

<quote>

What costs that everything?
Completely simply: Nothing! onlineTV Freeware is in the
advertising-financed version ! They can use onlineTV completely freely,
it result only the on-line costs of your InterNet connection.

Small Systemvorraussetzungen
A condition for the employment of the software is an installed (and more
configured) RealPlayer One as well as the Windows MediaPlayer starting
from version 6.4; both Tools are as Freeware available onlineTV run
under all Windows versions starting from Windows 95 (98, ME, 2000, XP)
and necessarily at least 32 MByte main memories.

I would like to see programs that would fall into a new category or
new sub category accepted whether they are seconded or not. These
programs usually one of a kind freeware. There are loads of graphic
viewers but maybe only one freeware font maker. Or there are two font
maker but one is Adware or limitied in some other way.

Perhaps I missed getting this second for Python in on time?
