pci.sys is missing or corrupt

I added a 512 MB DDR chip to my motherboard, already have one in there (my
board can handle 1 gb of RAM), but when i boot, it keeps saying
"c:\windows\system32\pci.sys is missing or corrupt". when i take the second
chip out, my system boots fine. any solutions?
