Norton Systemworks 2003

I use Norton Systemworks 2003 on a win 2000 and a xp
comupter. Within the last two days both computers take
forever to load the program or a component of the program.
The load time is in excess of three minutes. I have run
several types of virus scans and spyware programs and have
found nothing. Any ideas as to either microsoft or norton
updates causing the problem. Symantec is clueless.

Also, any programs out there better than system works?

i just saw a message in another group on here about some kind of problem
with norton live update or related activity. seemed to be causeing some
kind of slowdown. i know something was wrong with my norton av this evening
and i had to disable it to open an excel spreadsheet, with it running the
sheet just sat there waiting for a virus scan.

This is related to a bad NAV virus definitions update. Please see my previously posted thread "Slow Right Click Response and Slow Opening of Office Docs" for more info...

.
I did not install their virus program. I just disabled
the verisign section as suggested and the program ran like
magic.
I think they have more problems than just a bad Nav release.

i think so to... my subscription ran out a month or so ago and i have been
delaying renewing so my last definition update was 12/17 and it had been
working fine till today.

I think this would be a good project for one of you gurus:
Put together a suite of products that will perform all
of the functions that SystemWorks does.

I'm not all that happy with SystemWorks either
- but what are my alternatives?

Ha!

Uninstalled Norton Systemworks long time ago.
The software is causes too many troubles.
My comp has lived without it for almost a year now, and it runs just fine,
not like before when Systemworks was installed.
