System crash while unistalling Norton SystemWorks 2006

Dear Sir/Madam:

I was unhappy with Norton SystemWorks 2006; therfore, I attempted to
unistall the application. All of the SystemWorks programs unistalled except
that my computer crashed when the Norton Go Bak history was unistalling.

It appears that not all of the Norton Go Back history files were completely
unistalled; as a result my system takes approximately four minutes to boot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,

hi, i have three great files that should fix the norton / symantec bugs.
these are from the symantec site and to verify these three apply to 2006 (it
applies to 2004 NIS and later but double check) then copy the names of the
files together on the search. verify the text of the article matched what i
edited.

1 Double click the MSIFIX icon.
2Click Run.
A black window may appear very briefly.

3double-click the SymNRT icon.
4Click Run.
5Click Next.
6Click I accept the License Agreement, and click Nex
7Type the letters and numbers that you see in the white box, and
then click Next.
8Click Yes or OK at each prompt.
You may need to click more than once. Your computer may be
restarted for you more than once.
You may be asked to repeat some steps after the computer
restarts.

9 double-click the SYMMSICLEANUP icon.
10Click Run, and then click Yes.
11Click OK.

the name of the three files required to remv:
MSIFIX (Installer fix)
SymNRT (symantec removal tool)
SYMMSICleanup Symantic MSInstaller cleanup)

I will never go back to Norton/Symantec. the files leave literally a
hundred trace file all throughout the computer that just cannot be undone and
are impossible to search.

An expert friend relies only on AVG Free and the windows firewall. And he
has an untold value of files, discs, drives, and music equipment installed.

By the way, AVG found 5 Trojans in my old computer Norton did not.

Hit my e-mail address if you cannot find the article on symantec and I will
send you the files.

I am a bit of a newbie but probably best described as fairly competent. I had
a similar problem in that I had an older version and could not get a new
install of the latest version. 5 calls to Norton and 4 days wasted they gave
up. I figured it out on my own by using a link to a 30 free trial program
called "Registry Crawler"

Note if you are not familar with registry files I suggest you don't go any
further. If you feel comfortable then download this program. It will do a
search for anything you tell it to. Do one for "norton" and one for
"symantec". I removed everyon of these and poof no more problems.

While this program eats up resources and I actaully dislike Norton, I have
found it can tune my system far easier and better than I can. I hate to admit
it but it has some advatages. Hope that helps.
