Using XP Pro 2003

Every time I update Norton Systemworks my computer is taken over by Symantec.

I installed Norton Systemworks 2006 and it took over as the default firewall.

My problems are now
1) I cannot access my other computer on my home network (Computers A to B
or B to A) I even toggeled MS sharing off then on; rebooted and still the
problem continues
2) I cannot restart MS Security Center (the option is not available)
3) On my laptop now starts up with an error window (Norton System) "Cannnot
access drive C:

I realize that this is an MS forum but trying to get support from Symantec
is almost impossible.

How do I restart the Security Center in the Contyrl pannel when I do not
have the option to do so?

How do I make Windows Defender the default Firewall as it was prior to
Systemworks 2006?

Thanks

Dennis

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, if we (responders) answer Symantec questions we get
collectively tagged as "Bashing Symantec". Truth is, Systemworks &
Norton Internet Security are both more trouble than they are worth.
Anyway, Systemworks is designed to take over Firewall functions &
disable XP's native firewall. Also, Symantec installs tend to override
Security Center with it's own form of Security monitoring.
Many responders (myself included) do not recommend NIS or the
Systemworks suite. It's tiresome to constantly have these Symantec
postings show up here as a avenue of last resort. Your best course of
action is return the product for a refund and purchase alternate security
software. Zone Alarm (Free) & AVG or Avast AV are both free apps
that should provide adequate protection.
Not only are NIS & SWorks problematic - but with Symantec's new
subscription model neither are worth a $39 renewal to keep.
The reason I strongly dislike Symantec Home products are the over
150+ installations I've had to spend hours and hours to either get working,
renewing or removing.

You were absolutely correct!

I completely uninstalled Systemworks on bothe of my computers and my network
works again. Never again for Symantec products.
