Microsoft Photo Editor disappears

This happened to me on several machines. This time I did something
about it. I searched the registry and found that you just need to
delete the "InitialPosition" key. Buggy crap. This has been in there
since at least Windows 98.

Symptom:

Windows Photo Editor only shows in full screen. If you try to make it
windowed, it will "disappear", but still have a task bar icon, which
you can maximize back to full screen.

Solution:

regedit HKEY_USERS > (latest) > Software > Microsoft > Photo Editor >
3.0 > Microsoft Photo Editor

Delete InitialPosition key.

That sounds like data corruption; no such problems here on XP Pro SP2+.

We dumped it long ago and went with Windows Picture and Fax viewer for
picture viewing (which is about 95% of our users).

If user needs to edit pictures, we install Photofiltre.
