I think it's an improvement. . .

Any complaints from the crowd?

Nah..:) Oh well, not re the index as such - but I think the "acf
Program Information" section can cause some confusion. One needs to
make it pretty clear, from the name, that the programs mentioned there
are only programs "mentioned" in ACF, and not voted Pricelessware yet.
How about "not yet Pricelessware" or something...? Ouch, I forget, you
have the Pricelessware stuff listed on those pages as well, with links
to the PL pages. Hmmm - still think one needs to make it more clear,
what is what... No?

All the best,

As for the index, move "acf Program Information" (as well as
"alt.comp.freeware") to the end (to the right), move Pricelessware
2004, 2003 etc stuff first (to the left). Also, add year to the
"Cumulative list" and "nomination" headings, such as "Cumulative list
2004" and so on.

I think it's clear after you click on a link-
"Programs that have been mentioned in ACF posts (not a complete list)."

Hi Bjorn,

Thanks for the helpful advice. :)

I agree about clarifying the 4 sets of program pages - added 2004 and
2003 to the Pricelessware sets. A bit redundant but clearer. . .

I disagree about moving the acf Program Information to the right. I've
tried it both ways. . .

Revised page uploaded - see what you think. . .

Hmm, but since we read from left to right, some might mistake the "acf
Program Information" links for the 2004 links, thats why i suggested
moving to "end".

But if not, how about if you rename as follows:
"acf Program Information" -> "Software mentioned in acf"

And, to the heading "alt.comp.freeware" above,
add parenthesis (acf), thus
alt.comp.freeware (acf)

And how about if, for the benefit of new readers:
2004 Pricelessware -> 2004 voted Pricelessware!
Revised page uploaded - see what you think. . .

Improved :)

Yah but. . . I think Bjorn's point is well taken. . .

I'm trying to make it one-click navigation. The Enter link is for
newbies so they don't have to guess - maybe I should make it bigger. . .
;)

Right now the Enter (link) could be read like a heading,
as in Enter the below...:)

Remove it, then use the "The best of the best in Freeware"
as a link, how about that? ("(acf)" in place I notice :)

"List" is good. Now change
2003 Pricelessware Archive -> 2003 Pricelessware List

Btw: Enter a tad to big now, disproportional to the rest.

hmmmm. . .
not obvious enough. . .
*Pricelessware* is a link. . .
just in case you didn't notice. ;)

Now good. Don't like the box though, just my taste I guess.
How about remove box, then simply change Enter to:
(or use the links below)
Foolproof, no?
Great work anyway Susan :)

I see. The problem may be that the list format on the home page doesn't
match the format on subsequent pages.
Maybe switch the format of the home page from a column layout to a row
format similar to what's on the rest of the program list pages?

Archive is *important* - it means the pages have been stored - they are
not kept current. not that anyone pays attention to that, but at least
they've been *told*. ;)
Btw: Enter a tad to big now, disproportional to the rest.

I dropped back a size and "framed" some of the info.

Yes :) - but it might be more cluttered looking. . . I think I'll wait
until tomorrow before I make any more changes.
Great work anyway Susan :)

I don't think that would help.

The "confusion caused by the same names in the links at the top of the
page" issue came up a while back - that's why there are different colors
on the ACF pages and the PL pages - to make it easy to know where you
are. . .
