windows defender keeps popping up stating that the zlob.gen trojan is in my
system. i have run spy sweeper in safe mode and they say that it has been
removed, yet windows defender keeps popping up saying it's still there. is
there a way to make sure that it is truely gone and get defender to recognize
that it is gone?

Hi puggawugga,

In addition to the other excellent advice from Dave M.

Error message when you run Windows Defender: "Error Code 0x800106ba "

I would deal with SUPERAntiSpyware. It has a free version meetings (free
version, home users)

Manual SUPERAntiSpyware

CCleaner download and execute it using v.2.09.600 <http://www.ccleaner.com/>
his first choice of "cleaner" to delete cookies, temporary Internet and all
the files that show you as obsolete, and then uses his option to "register"
to clean the entire Windows registry (with copy Security ª d).

Repeat operations 2 or 3 times, until in the end you do not have anything to
removed (especially in the registry º)

And if not, try HijackThis and with me at the forum would connect with the
experts for analysis.

Read here some threads HijackThis 2.0.2

See if this thread helps. Knowing what Operating System you're running would
help though:

Good luck

Have you also run a Windows Defender scan in safe mode?

Can you post the details of where the detected files are located? Any
chance they are in the System Restore store?

Thank you so much for the advice. I ran the ccleaner two or three times which
seemed to take care of the problem. I believe you were correct in stating
that the false positive was more Spy Sweeper than Defender

The ccleaner run 2 or 3 times took care of this for me. Thanks so much for
your advice, it was a great help
