The .zip files (which get *presented* as folders) does not support all
the additional functions you find in 3rd party file compression/archival
tools, like WinZip, PKZip, and others. You don't get full functions,
like password protecting or encrypting your .zip file. Nor do you get
all the functions of Veritas backup program in the crippled version that
is called NT Backup (which must be installed manually for Windows XP
Home). You don't get all the function of Diskeeper in the crippled
version of the defrag program included in Windows XP. If you want the
additional features, buy the full blown product.
