Yahoo/Verizon Emails Lost Switching to Windows Mail

When I set up my Windows Mail account, I transferred my Yahoo/Verizon emails
from that server. Upon doing this, when I went back directly to my email
account on the Yahoo/Verizon server, all the emails were gone.
Can I get all those emails to also be on my account on the Yahoo/Verizon
server, and if not, can I just reverse the whole process without any
problems? - in other words, can I drop off of Windows Mail and restore my
account on Yahoo/Verizon to its original state? Thanks for help anyone can
give.

You're describing standard, default POP client behaviour, which is to
download mail and then tell the server to delete it.

All POP clients act this way out of the box.

There are settings on the Advanced tabs to Leave Messages on the Server, and
for X days.

The short answer is maybe, and pretty much only if your mail provider
supports IMAP as well as POP. If they do, you would back up all the
downloaded mail, and (it would be safer to do this step with another system)
set up another mail client, but this time as IMAP. Create an offline folder
and restore the backed-up mail to that folder. Then, copy it from the
offline folder to the IMAP inbox. From this point, you can go back to your
POP client, and before allowing it to download any mail, change its setting
to Leave Messages On The Server. Note that it's likely that the POP client
will see all the restored mail on the server as new, and download it all
again, so you might want to make a duplicate folder and shovel everything
out of the inbox just before you connect.

The alternative isn't very helpful, and that is just to forward all the mail
to yourself. The problem will be that it wil all be to you and FROM you,
at more or less the same time, so you won't be able to sort by anything
other than subject.
