XPsp2 cdrw + dvd

i installed SP2 and ever since my 2 cd drives have disappeared from the my
computer folder i go into the device manager and check on the drivers and
this is the message i get for both:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration
information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

I tried the troubleshooter to no avail.

tried Uninstalling
and rebooting the computer to let XP redetect and reinstall the
drives.
didn't work
 
Try booting into Safe Mode and see if they may be there. If they are, remove
them and then reboot to let Windows re-detect.
