XP will not boot in any mode

Hi there freinds PC would not boot - just gets to the screen saying "windows
did not load properly last time" and choosing any of the options like 'last
good' or 'safe mode' just makes the PC re-start and go back to the same
screen.
So I have put the drive into my PC. Windows on booting found file system
errors and fixed them. Once in Windows, I have checked the drive for viruses
(0) and spy/malware (found 400 odd files!)
However, once the drive was put back into it's PC, it still does'nt boot. So
any ideas please? What file dictates what is run when trying to boot - is it
boot.ini or win.ini or any other?

He's probably got a corrupted registry. Read this to correct:

He might have to reformat and reinstall.
