System xp media addition sp2
Printer Lexmark x8350 USB Connection
Just bought/Installed Lexmark printer When I try Print the printer
grabs the paper then hangs. The printer displays a print status bar on
my computer that goes to 99% and then just hangs. I can see the job in
Queue but it doesn't print.
I cleaned the print spooler using instructions in
http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm and reinstalled
from scratch but still get the same issue.
I have an hp laserjet 712 that runs through LPT1 and it prints.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Call Lexmark and get the printer replaced. Seems like it's never worked
correctly, so take advantage of that guarantee.

I did take it back and got the Canon mp530, and I am still having the
same issues. I was on the phone with Canon helpdesk for 3 hours
yesterday with no luck. The printer picks up the paper but is not
getting the data. They had me check this path:
c/windows/system32/spool/printers/ and there was a shockwave fp00000
and fp00000.shd in the spooler. Could not delete these unless I
stopped and started the spooler. Tech had no ideas on why this is
happening. Cable modem is running through USB fine. I switched the
USB cable from the modem to the printer and the printer still did not
respond.

Any ideas?

Was it a shockwave file you were trying to print? From which application
were you trying to print or did you not even get to the point where the
printer was correctly installed?

Are these USB ports on the motherboard or on a hub? If hub, powered or
unpowered? If on the motherboard, on the front or on the back?

Does the printer install if the modem is disconnected?

Thanks for the response.
I was printing a Test Page, Notepad, and finally wordpad. The printer
was installed with no problem. The fp00000 did not have a suffix on
the file but the mouseover said shockwave.

The printer is set up through USB in the back of computer. It was not
powered but I went and bought a Belkin 4 Port powered hub.
I unplugged the modem and then reinstalled the printer but the page
will not print.
I really appreciate your help.
