I upgraded to XP Pro and lost ME files when asked to
partition the drive. Would like to know how to retrieve
lost ME files on the hard drive. Thanks.

Which ME "files" are you referring to? After upgrading, the ME operating
system should be gone.

There were programs used for photos and finances used by
ME that did not transfer over to the XP as I had
expected. I am wondering how they can be found after XP
required a repartitioning of the drive. Thank you.

Oh, when you said "files", it implies individual files, not software
programs.

You should look under C:\Program Files for folders that seem to match the
names of your old programs. If you find any look in those folders for .exe
files that seem to indicate that they would start the program (usually they
are named similiarly to the program). If clicking this file does start the
program. the make a shortcut to that exe wherever you want one.

Sorry for the inaccurate term. Unfortunately, none of
the necessary programs from ME transferred over to the
XP. When I put in XP it requested that it repartition
the drive. In doing so, several of these programs seem
to be gone. I am wondering how to find a way to get them
back. Thank you for your time on this matter.

If you deleted the partition and then created a new partition, then you
didn't do an upgrade, you did a clean install. In that case, your old
programs are gone and not retrievable.

Same problems here - make a long story short -

I used Windows backup utility - I did a back up of my system and it actually accessed and backed up my lost files - isn't that a trip - after a month of trying to figure this out... it was so simple...

Anyway, I went to Windows backup utility again (under programs, accessorirs, system tools), and did a restore (not on ALL the system files and stuff - I just selected my music and work files - no settings.

Look up Backup and Restore in Windows Help and Support --
