XP SP3 Problems

Vikram

I am trying to grab pictures from my mini SD card but keep getting the
message "cannot copy file - the path is too deep".

This has only started happening recently after an automatic upgrade to SP3.

I was able to grab the same files by hooking on my camera directly to the
USB.

Shorten the file path by reorganising the folders. Do not create
overlong folder / file names.

Hope this helps.

I have short names. the funny thing is that the same files could be grabbed
when hooked to a USB through my camera. I had this problem earlier when I was
transfering files onto a friends computer but that time my comp worked just
fine.

Well, i have BAD news guys....After spending 3 HOURS online with a live-agent
today, we have discovered a NEW problem with the SP3. It seems that it is
incompatible with certain types of hardware. The worst part of it is that we
can't seem to REMOVE the SP3....3 differnet agents tried...we are STILL in
the process of correcting the problem. I suspect you (and all of us windows
users) will be geting notified of this soon, as it's a pretty major problem.
I just bought my computer and can NOT install much of anything, including my
printer driver. Good LUCK!

What "certain types of hardware" are incompatible with SP 3? Can you be
more specific?

Computers with AMD processors may have a problem with SP 3, but not
because SP 3 is incompatible. The problem is caused by OEMs -
principally HP - who deploy the same image to Intel-based computers that
they do to AMD-based computers. The image has a driver (intelppm.sys)
that is wrong for AMD processors. That's not Microsoft's problem,
although Microsoft offered a workaround.
