I have a Dell Dimension 5100 with a clean install of Win XP SP3. After the
computer resumes from hibernate the USB mouse never works. Unplugging the
mouse and replugging fixes it. Also if I navigate into Device Manager using
the keyboard if I disable the mouse and reinable it this also fixes it. The
USB keyboard is fine after hibernate.

Googleling this problem comes up with a lot of hits but the patch appears to
be a pre SP3 patch.

Any ideas?

Open Device Manager, open the properties on each "USB Root Hub", click
the Power tab, and deselect "Allow the computer to turn off this device
to save power".

I'll try it and post back.
Thanks

Just tried it on a "manual" hibernate and it worked :-)
I'll see what happens now on an auto-hibernate.
