XP SP2

When i try and install SP2 on my time laptop everything
seems to go well but when i try and restart it logs off
then just stays in that state and wont budge, eventually
i had to remove the power supply just to get it back on.
Once restarted seems ok but still wont shut down, after
uninstall laptop works fine again!
