XP SP2 and Borland's BDE

B

Barry

Hello,

We have a commercial app that heavily uses Borland's BDE. Testing with
the generally available beta XP SP2 causes this app to crash.

From other newsgroups people have said that MS fixed the BDE crash
problem with a newer build of SP2, build 2160 or later.

If I download SP2 from the MS site, I seem to get a much earlier
build, something like 1543 dated March 2004.

The 2160 build seemed to appear in June 2004 or so.

Does anyone know where to get the latest build, 2160 or greater, so we
can test our app.

Thanks,
Barry.

You need to be in the XP SP2 beta to have access to later builds.

Barry;
Build 2149 Release Candidate 2 is the latest public build available
through the Technical Preview.
Later builds are only available to Beta testers and internal to
Microsoft.
Some people have stolen copies of various builds, since the source is
questionable at best, the code must also be suspect.
Build 2162 was briefly available after making a registry entry, but my
understanding is that is also gone.

If you have a need for a later build to test, contact your businesses
Microsoft representative directly.

By my guess the release version of SP 2 will be available for everyone
mid to late August.

Hello,

Thanks to both Michael Solomon and Jupiter Jones for your responses.

Is is possible to become a beta tester at this late stage. I was a
beta tester for Win2003.

I do not know of any Microsoft Business Reps. How would I find ours?

It is really important that we get a heads up on this before our
customers start upgrading to SP2.

If we don't, we will have to tell them "Do Not Apply SP2" and turn off
Auto-Upgrades also.

I do not think even that will hold off the flood of support calls.

Thanks,
Barry.

Barry;
Most likely it is not possible to join the Beta since there is most
likely less than a month before the final version is released.

Your IT department would have the information on a Microsoft rep.

If you have a mailing list perhaps its time to start using it.
