XP shutdown problem

Hi,

I have a Windows XP SP2 machine, Pentium M 1.7ghz, 512MB, etc

After clicking on Start -> Turn Off Computer, I have to wait 2-3
minutes before the "Turn off computer" screen comes up, which gives me
the choices of Stand By, Turn off, or Restart. It only seems to do
this after the system has been running for a while.. Note that the
delay occurs before windows even attempts to close apps and shutdown.

I would really appreciate it if someone could shed some some light on
the cause/solution of this problem.

Thanks,
Arvind

Microsoft has a program that generally corrects this problem. Search for
"UPHClean" on Microsoft.com and install it on your computer.

Hi,

Both the above things are not helping. Hence, I would appreciate it
if someone could suggest an alternative technique.

Thanks,
Arvind
