XP Services?

Hi there,
What Services should be Disabled, put on Manual or Automatic when a machine
is end user/ stand alone on a dial up?
What exactly are the differences between Manual stopped & Manual but
started, Automatic & started & not started?
Can you please specify which ones to be disabled, set on Manual or Automatic
for an end user on a dialup?
How can one reach to the QoSRSVP utility in the windows?

Here are good places to read about services in XP:

I'm sorry but I can't answer your last question since I'm not familiar
with a "QoSRSVP utility".

How Can One ENABLE EMAIL Notification Permenantly?

A disabled service cannot be started.

A mnual service must be started by the user or an application and does not
survive a reboot.

An automatic service starts when Windows starts and must be manually
stopped if need be.

Thanks.
Disabled I understood.
But some services on my machine are Manual & running (started) & some Manual
BUT Stopped?
Same goes for Automatic e.g. Auto update Automatic BUT not started but BITS
Automatic & started??
A bit confusing.
Thanks again.
Regards.

If You:

1)set any Service to "Disabled", it will not be started By Software.
2)set any Service to "Manual", the Software that needs it can start that
service IF the program is written to start the service when needed. [Hence,
"Manual" and "Started", if a Program started the Service. Otherwise, "Manual"
and "Stopped".]
3)set any Service to "Auto", Windows will start that Service when Windows
starts.
[An "Auto" started service may have been stopped By_The_User, after windows
started.}
