Remote Access Connections in Services

I sent this message on Nov 26 and just went to see why I didn't see the
reply. Some kind of a glitch, maybe. the lineup of the posts only contained
the A.M. messages. My reader is Outlook Express. Another try:

Windows XP Pro SP2

I had someone do a couple of things on my computer a while back and ever
since then these two services have been on Started Automatic.
Remote Access connection Manager
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager

I was sure they were always on Manual. Elder Geek says they should both be
on Manual.
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager (was not set on started so I set from
automatic to Manual.)

Remote Access connection Manager (couldn't stop it, but did set on Manual).
So now it reads "started" "manual" and I think that doesn't look right. I
got this message: Could not stop the Remote Access Connection Manager
service on Local Computer. The service did not return an error. This could
be an internal Windows error or an internal service error. If the problem
persists, contact your system administrator.

Is there a way to change that setting that I'm missing? I don't see any
other service that is set to "manual" that also says "started." (of course,
I'm the administrator)

get/renew IP and talk to the server and also AVs.
