REMOTE ACCESS

Windows XP Pro SP2

I had someone do a couple of things on my computer a while back and ever
since then these two services have been on Started Automatic.
Remote Access connection Manager
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager

I was sure they were always on Manual. Elder Geek says they should both be
on Manual.
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager (was not set on started so I set from
automatic to Manual.)

Remote Access connection Manager (couldn't stop it, but did set on Manual).
So now it reads "started" "manual" and I think that doesn't look right. I
got this message: Could not stop the Remote Access Connection Manager
service on Local Computer. The service did not return an error. This could
be an internal Windows error or an internal service error. If the problem
persists, contact your system administrator.

Is there a way to change that setting that I'm missing? I don't see any
other service that is set to "manual" that also says "started." (of course,
I'm the administrator)

In all honesty, the names of the services sound deceiving. Default on
them is manual but if you have a NIC or are connected to a LAN / Cable
modem / DSL, you might just as well leave them to auto because they
will autostart to connect to the LAN / Internet whether they are
manual or auto. Auto just save the OS the trouble of manually firing
it up. It's all transparent.
