Hi

I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop that when resuming from hibernation is
going into hibernation mode immediately after boot up. If you then try and
restart the machine then XP boots up as would be expected.

The machine is running a fully patched (up to september at least) version of
XP SP1.

Does anyone have any ideas where I should be looking to try and solve this
problem?

TIA

Check your settings for Hibernation:
Start>Control Panel>Power Options>System Standby or System Hibernation
If you change any of your settings, click Apply and then OK to set and save
them.
