Hi,
Under XP SP2 Pro, after i put my computer into hibernate mode. Then i
run computer and "resuming" bar is loaded, at the end of "resuming"
progress bar, i got blank and black screen and the computer locks up.
I cannot hibernate. No problem with stand-by.

How can i solve that problem, it doesn't always exist.

Thanks.

i would suggest to
set your virtual memory
to a fixed/custom size:

set initial size = 2

and

set max size = 1152

[ the max size is based on this
calculation: 1152 = 768 x 1.5 ]

then reboot and retry your
hibernation.

if you get a blank desktop
after trying your hibernation
press ctrl-alt-del and click
on new task and enter:

explorer.exe

here are the instructions that
will show you how to get to
virtual memory control panel:

hi db,
I did what you advised but the problem still exists. I set my virtual
memory 1152mb as max, 2mb as initial. The problem happens for once
after resetting and re-hibernating usually there's no problem. But
everyday for the first time, resuming from hibernation fails.

I also have old PCI AverTV card, PCI ethernet card.

well if it were consistently
stalling then we could point
to a hardware / component as
being a problem.

but if it happens once a day
then it might be some kind
of malware or auto update
feature that is trying to connect
to the net but your internet
connection fails and stalls out
your system.

since you know more/less when
you can expect a failure in
hibernation re-initialization, try
the following before hand.

on the next hibernation that will
subsequently lead to a stall, disable
or exit your antivirals, disconnect or
powerdown your peripherals and make
sure your internet/modem is disabled.

then hibernate and see what happens
on the following day.
